Pentecost - 2013

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost recalling the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles giving them the courage and inspiration to continue the mission of Jesus Christ.

Through our Baptism and again through our Confirmation each one of us is called to take up our part in the ongoing mission of the Lord. Our particular “apostolates” are woven into our particular vocations and the circumstances of our lives. This is where the Holy Spirit comes to us...to inspire, to encourage, to and to give hope. This feast of the Holy Spirit calls us, and in many ways challenges us, to renew our commitment to the Lord. How is Jesus inviting us, right now at this point in our lives, to follow him more deeply?

As the Easter season concludes, we reflect upon the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, in the Church and in the world. It is a perfect time of grace to allow ourselves to be renewed and refreshed by that Spirit, and to joyfully recommit ourselves to the Lord as his disciples.

Farewell

Our parish is blessed with some very beautiful voices. Each week, our cantors lead us in song and we hear our wonderful choir. Each voice, along with the congregation, adds so much to the celebration of Holy Mass.

For the past year, at the 8:30 AM Sunday Mass, we have been blessed with the talent of Danielle Freeman as our cantor. Danielle will be moving to California in early June and next Sunday will be her last Sunday with us. We want to thank Danielle for sharing her beautiful talent with us, and we wish her God’s blessings as she moves on.

Have a blessed week,
Father Ceriello
